Sejal is an actress, concert artist, session vocalist and songwriter, currently playing Ray in Everybody's Talking About Jamie at the Apollo Theatre in London's West End.
She trained at Newcastle University and Guildford School of Acting, gaining a BA in Music and an MA in Musical Theatre. She has experience as a vocalist in soul, pop, gospel, classical, cabaret, rap and musical theatre. It is her distinct husky tone, vocal acrobatics and three and a half octave range that stand her out from the crowd.
Since graduating, she has worked both as an actress and singer in various concerts, stage and screen projects. Some of her theatre credits include the UK tour of ‘Anita and Me’, the premiere of ‘Trident Moon’ at Finborough Theatre and ‘Bend It Like Beckham – the musical’ at the Phoenix Theatre, for which she also features on the original cast recording.
As a soloist, Sejal has performed at venues including Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, the Jazz Café Camden, The Electric Brixton, The Arts Club, and Birdland Jazz Club in New York. As a session vocalist she has sung with Dynamic Vocals and Capital Voices on various projects including Britain's Got Talent and BBC2's Friday Night is Music Night. She regularly appears as the lead vocalist with Rogue Symphony in London and round the UK in their sell out shows, some of which include her singing and rapping as Beyonce in Destiny's Child Re:Imagine and Lauryn Hill in Fugees: The Re-Score. She has also worked as a backing vocalist for Kimberly Walsh (Girls Aloud). As a classical vocalist her credits include the 60th Anniversary Concert of ‘My Fair Lady’ and ‘Bernstein’s Mass’ at Royal Festival Hall. Some of her career highlights have been performing at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi, the Royal Parks Half Marathon in Hyde Park and the What's On Stage Awards. Her natural flair for harmonies, vocal arranging and strong sight-reading skills mark her suitability as a session singer and backing vocalist.
Sejal wrote and sang 'Light Up the Room' for the 2018 Superdrug 'Feel Good' Marie Curie campaign, and is featured in the video alongside Marvin Humes (JLS) and Frankie Bridge (The Saturdays). Her TV and film appearances include BBC’s ‘Children in Need’, ITVs ʻLetʼs Do Lunch with Gino and Mel – Christmas Specialʼ, ʻBritainʼs Got Talentʼ, the online Guardian film 'Bollywood Royal Wedding', ‘Michael McIntyre’s Very Christmassy Christmas Show’ and ʻBBCʼs Search for a Musical Theatre Performerʼ, which documents her time as a finalist on The BBCʼs ʻVoice of Musical Theatreʼ competition.
Sejal is co-founder and Musical Director of Divalution; a girl group of 3 outstanding female vocalists that travel the world singing soul, pop and musical theatre in their own distinct, soulful style.
